Czy cztery asy i joker wystarczą, aby pokonać Google? Danny Sullivan z branżowego serwisu Search Engine Land jest pełen wątpliwości. Ale nawet on uważa, że Cuil ma szansę przejąć w najbliższym czasie 1-2 procent ogromnego rynku wyszukiwarek, a w ciągu kilku lat stać się zagrożeniem dla giganta.

Ja używałem Google, jak jeszcze mieli 1 milion stron (tak, nie miliard, ani bilion czy ile tam wymyślicie). Zawsze ładował się szybko, bez reklam i dawał prawidłowe wyniki. To było jakoś w 1998. Dla porównania była wtedy jakaś polska wyszukiwarka, która na tamten czas miała zindeksowane 500 tys. stron
ale od czasu przerzucenia się na google (to juz 10 lat?) nie pamiętam jak się nazywała…

Próbowałem z różnymi rzeczami które google znajduje bez problemu, nawet wpisywałem hasła z wikipedii – zawsze rezultat ten sam: nic nie znaleziono.
Coś ściemniają z tą ilością zindeksowanych stron – bo skoro nie ma tam ani strony osnews ani polskiej wikipedii ani żadnej ze stron które robiłem (tam sprawdziłem sobie nawet w logach czy się jakiś ich robot nie złapał), ani niczego na podobny temat jak strony których szukałem aby wyświetlić jakikolwiek wynik to co niby tam jest ?
Mają jakiś problem jak podasz dłuższe frazy. Myślę, że to nie problem z indeksem tylko raczej z liczbą użytkowników, której nie przewidzieli na start i coś im backend nawala.
ciężko uznac 3 wyrazowe frazy za dłuższe, zresztą z 2 wyrazowymi też sobie nie radzi – krutszych się już nie da.
Do testów poszedłem na pl.wikipedia.org dałem losuj stronę i próbowałem poszukać tego co się wylosowało:

Rozumiem, że są wakacje i nie ma o czym pisać, ale reklamowanie vaporware to już jest lekkie przegięcie.

wczoraj na swoim początkującym blogu pisałem o Google i o tym czy możliwe jest by Google stało się wrogiem publicznym #1. Rynek szybko odpowiedział 
Dla mnie Cuil jest wciąż o całą epokę za Google, głównie ze względu na funkcjonalność. Google, dzisiaj oferuje wszystko czego potrzebuje internauta i to w porządnym wydaniu. Będę obserwował nowinki ale wyszukiwarki nie zmienię

Po pierwszych pięciu minutach korzystania z tej wyszukiwarki stwierdziłem, że nie jest to pełnowartościowy produkt. Po wpisaniu kilku fraz do wyszukania wyskakiwały albo zupełnie błędne wyniki albo wyniki nie pojawiły się wcale.
Mimo to postanowiłem dać jej jeszcze jedną szansę. Opłaciło się.
Przeglądarka bardzo szybko zreflektowała się w moich oczach, po tym jak frazy do wyszukania wpisywałem w języku angielskim. Po wpisaniu kilku angielskich nazwisk (m.in. Adam Savage oraz Eric Meyer) i otrzymaniu bardzo dokładnych wyników postanowiłem pójść za ciosem. Kilka niedorzecznych haseł, pierwszych, które przyszły mi do głowy (m.in. Endangered Species of North America). Po chwili wyniki. Trafne.
Jednak nie ze wszystkim jest tak pięknie. Przykładowo, po wpisaniu "Human behavior in dangerous situation" wyskakują zupełnie niepowiązane ze sobą wyniki. Być może wynika to z mojej nieznajomości języka angielskiego (ale ja się ciągle kształcę x]). Wg mnie wyszukiwarka zapowiada się bardzo ciekawie. Za jakiś czas będzie to bardzo użyteczne źródło informacji. Trzeba przyjąć do wiadomości to, że to są początki. A one chyba zawsze są najtrudniejsze, nieprawdaż ?
Jak to jest, że czasem przy pewnych słowach mam taki komunikat? Czyżby było zbyt duże obciążenie?

A swoją drogą daje interesujące wyniki, zupełnie inne niż google i warto sprawdzić na niej pewne wyszukiwania.
Troche nietrafione obrazki maja. Np po wpisaniu Edyta Bartosiewicz pojawia sie zdjecie Chylinskiej albo Niemena. I nawet polskie strony wyszukuje. Na pewno jeszcze sporo brakuje im, ale sa na dobrej drodze, ale czy aby na pewno by zagrozic google? Przyzwyczajenie bedzie gora. No i jak juz ktos wspomnnial, google pozwala na wiele wiecej(gmail, googletalk, picasa). Pozyjemy zobaczymy;-)

W dodatku co to za reklama iż tworzą ją doświadczeni ludzie. Właśnie tacy robią to najgorzej są już wypaleni. Większość dobrych pomysłów w sieci należy do osób "świeżych".
Zresztą jak w polityce, tam gdzie są młodzi i nowi politycy tam jest oki a tak jak u nas gdzie siedzą stare pryki od dawna to nic dobrego nie ma.
Cuil fajnie wygląda ale nic poza tym. Do przebicia Google potrzeba czegoś naprawdę świeżego i prostego.
