Obciazenie procesora nie powinno byc tak wielkie, zwazajac na fakt, że grafiki są kompresowane po stronie serwera proxy, a optymalizacja kodu strony nie jest jakos specjalnie wynagajacym zajeciem.

Mam tą Operkę od kilku dni i sprawdza się bardzo dobrze. Obecnie przekroczyłem limit miesięczny i mam ograniczony internet do 16kbps (download i upload) a mimo to przeglądanie stron jest w miarę komfortowe (wcześniej to był istny koszmar). A co do użycia procka to na procku c2d 1.8 GHz waha się w granicy kilku procent.

Nie wiedziałem, że moc procesora podawana jest w jednostkach częstotliwości. Do tej pory sądziłem, że w ilości operacji na jednostkę czasu. Człowiek uczy się całe życie.

@hering Facet podał model (tzn. możesz sobie sprawdzić ilość ipc). I przemnozyć ipc*czestotliwość, przerasta? I nie pier*** ze jest kilka c2d o częstotliwośći 14 GHz.

Oczywiście opieram pomysł jaki zaproponowała Opera Labs, ale na tym etapie testów używanie tej przeglądarki to jeden wielki koszmar.

W czasie testów stwierdziłem, że skompresowane strony mimo znacznie mniejszej ich wagi nie zawsze wczytują się szybciej. Wynika to z faktu, że cały „proces kompresji” nie jest bezstratny czasowo, co nie zawsze przełoży się na szybsze jej wczytanie. Muszę jeszcze wspomnieć, że skompresowane strony często nie do końca wczytują się, a ich odświeżanie dodatkowo zabiera „cenny czas”.

Testy przeprowadziłem na bardzo słabym łączy, które ma tylko przepustowość do 128 kb/s.

A nie prościej kompresować strony na serwerach WWW. Zresztą osnews.pl tez by się przydała kompresja. Nie wiem czy ktoś zauważył ale taki wątek o kupnie SUN przez IBM ma około 200 Kb – po kompresji jakieś 30 Kb.

Potwierdzam słowa przedmówcy, że obecnie używanie opery turbo to koszmar. Prócz czasu wczytywania i problemów z odświeżaniem stron (nie dość że czasami strona nie wczytywała się do końca to nie dało się jej odświeżyć wcale, dopiero zamknięcie i ponowne otwarcie pomagało) doszło u mnie jeszcze brak polskich znaków. Testowałem przy ~24kb/s i znacznie sprawniej działa Firefox (dokładniej to Swiftweasel)

Gdyby dało się jeszcze tak potraktować pliki zassysane z serwisów typu odsiebie.pl linkuj.pl czy też zagramanicznych rapid/M-upload i archiwa 100MB po raz kolejny skompresować do powiedzmy 1MB…
