Ktoś ma pomysł, co za serwer jest po lewej stronie w drugiej ramce? Bo wygląda to jak rack z dziesięcioma T5440, ale przecież to produkt od roku w sprzedaży (choć parę miesięcy temu dodali trochę megaherców). Więc co to? Zupełnie nowy serwer w podobnej obudowie (możliwe)? Czy może nowe oprogramowanie Oracle o ileś rzędów wielkości zwiększające wydajność dzięki lepszemu wykorzystaniu wielowątkowych CPU(też możliwe)? Platforma Rock/Supernova, którą dziennikarze skazali na skasowanie(też możliwe)?

Przy okazji wie, ktoś dlaczego twórcy solarisa postanowili porzucić swoje środowisko graficzne na rzecz gnome?

@marcinsud: to nie było ich środowisko, zostało stworzone przez Sun, HP, IBM, Univel, SCO oraz USL. IMHO porzucili bo nie dawał nic ponad to co stworzył zespół GNOME, a gnomowcom nie trzeba było płacić.

Pozostaje tylko mieć nadzieję że zwiększone fundusze nie pójdą tylko na marketing.

Jakoś zwrot "przejście od słów do czynów" w zestawieniu z pierwszym czynem – opublikowaniem benchmarku… wzbudza we mnie pewne niepokoje.

Obym się mylił.. i wszystko okaże się tylko uprzedzeniem do firmy Oracle.

widać solaris będzie ich pupilkiem może i dobrze,a słyszał ktoś jakieś głosy o openoffice?? Znając niechęć ellisona(nie ellicona jak w artykule błąd tam jest) do ms wszystko możliwe że sypnie kasą.

->Dramatycznie podnieść wydajność platform sprzętowych Sun poprzez lepszą integrację oprogramowania Oracle z tym sprzętem

Czyżby chcieli sypnąć $$ w rozwój opensolarisa ? przydały by się nowe technologie w nim oraz nowe porty typu mips czy powerpc

No tak, ale w tekście nie pojawia się słowo OpenSolaris tylko samo solaris…

Nie ma też nic o tym, co myślę nas najbardziej interesuje – openoffice.org…
