Pidgin 2.6.1 – skok w przód

18 sierpnia bieżącego roku została wydana kolejna wersja Pidgina oznaczona numerem 2.6.0, krok milowy w rozwoju tego komunikatora o otwartym źródle. Jeszcze tego samego dnia powstały do niej odpowiednie poprawki podbijające numerek do 2.6.1
Twórcy Pidgina zdążyli przyzwyczaić użytkowników do rozsądnego, pozbawionego rewolucji postępu prac nad swoim programem. Wielokrotnie zarzucano im brak odpowiedzi na wymagania użytkowników, tym razem programiści w pełni się zrewanżowali, na całe szczęście. Zmiany dotknęły praktycznie wszystkich komponentów komunikatora, wymienię kilka moim zdaniem najważniejszych:
- obsługa rozmów video i audio przy pomocy Jingle (Jabber rośnie w siłę!) oraz użytkownikami GMaila (z komunikatorem GTalk dostępne są jedynie rozmowy głosowe), opcja ta nie jest jeszcze dostępne na platformie Windows;
- przeglądarka usług używanego serwera Jabbera;
- możliwość większej ingerencji w wygląd programu przez zarządzanie tematami listy kontaktów;
- dla polskich użytkowników: poprawki w pobieraniu statusu Gadu-Gadu (długie opisy nie są jeszcze dostępne), pobieranie awatarów z kont GG, poprawki w łączeniu z serwerem (możliwość sprecyzowania serwera).
Aktualizacja jest tym bardziej zalecana, ponieważ wersje niższe od 2.5.9 obarczone są luką, która umożliwia niepożądanemu gościowi ingerencję w zdrowie naszych systemów.

Kiedy napisałem o 2.6, zostało to skasowane – Dziękuje, ale w cywilizowanym świcie pisze się za co coś zostało skasowane. Bo takie działanie, to można nazwać samowolka i dyskryminacją. Może nie był to idealny wpis, ale inne serwisy się na nim oparły, więc źle nie mogło być. Więc następnym razem napiszcie powiadomienie komuś jak skasujecie coś, co i jak – bo chyba ktoś kto tym kieruje umie pisać
Czytnik google zindeksował poprzedni wpis, ale na stronach go już nie było.
Nie lubię takich zagrań. Trochę to dziadostwem trąci.
Monopol, i cenzura sie szerzy nawet w swiecie otwartych umyslow!
Szkoda ze dalej nie ma dodatkowych statusów i długich opisów no i wysyłanie plików i grafik niezbyt działa – z pidgina nie korzystam, bo odstrasza mnie wygląd i to ze nic z tym nie chcą robić – niemniej lib pidginowy jest dobrym wyjściem dla nowych komunikatorów.

Dlaczego deweloperzy Pidgina, mieli by się skupiać na protokole, z którego na świecie korzysta niemal jedynie jeden kraj? Napisz do programistów GGNetwork by wydali swój produkt na inne platformy, wtedy będziesz mieć pełne możliwości GG.
Co z tego, że jeden naród?
Zawsze to kilka milionów potencjalnych użytkowników.
Co ciekawe, obsługuje za to już awatary Gadu-Gadu…
To niech Ci potencjalni użytkownicy zgłoszą się do pisania wsparcia. Jak sądzisz ilu jest deweloperów Pidgina, używających protokołu GG? Czy protokół GG ma jakąś dokumentację, dzięki której można by łatwo dodawać jego funckje do innych komunikatorów? A moż programiści mają zgadywać jak coś działa w GG?
Oj zdziwiłbyś się, są tacy, w końcu jednak ktoś powoli, ale jednak kula do przodu wsparcie dla Gadu-Gadu, a to, że nie jest priorytetem, to się zupełnie nie dziwię, kto by chciał się pchać w takie coś bez pewnych korzyści.
Z tego co wiem używają zmodyfikowanego libgadu i mają problemy z wprowadzeniem własnych zmian do głównej wersji (był lub jest dalej "ticket" dotyczący zmian dla biblioteki pod Windows).
Nie mówię, że ich nie ma. Zastanawiałem się tylko ilu ich jest i jak bardzo mają utrudnione zadanie z powodu braku dokumentacji protokołu GG.
Brak oficjalnej dokumentacji nie oznacza braku dokumentacji w ogóle.

Gdyby nic nie wiedzieli to by nie było biblioteki, a jeśli nie chciało im się tego udokumentować w sposób inny niż sam kod (który jest najlepszą formą dokumentacji dla programisty), to inna sprawa.
Ekipa od Tlena poradziła sobie jakoś bardzo dobrze z dodaniem obsługi nowości z wersji 8., ale coś nie chcą się dzielić wiedzą (chociaż sami używali libgadu na początku)…
A tak w ogóle, skoro nie widać postępów w pracach, to może znaczy, że deweloperzy przenieśli się już na Jabbera lub inne?
Patrząc na to jak ostatnio jabberowe komunikatory się poprawiły, można tak przypuszczać.
Żeby tak pociągnęli za sobą zwykłych użytkowników…
Chociaż po tym jak Gadu-Gadu przejął nowy inwestor (bodajże jakiś z RPA), to są widoki na ucywilizowanie dalsze (tylko czemu Polscy właściciele nie mieli inwencji żadnej? Strumień gotówki z reklam był i jest duży, więc parę groszy można było przekierować na rozwój we właściwym kierunku, tylko po co, skoro ma się właściwie monopol
), po tym jak wydano nowego klienta i uzupełniono część braków protokołu (jak np. za krótkie opisy, niedobór typów stanów itd.).
Ja przeciągam znajomych.;)
Tylko czekam, aż Pidgin dorobi się A/V na Windowsie.
A/V, co to?
Przeciąganie ludzi bywa trudne, szczególnie bo niepowodzeniu z fotka.pl jakiś czas temu (komentarze na forum fotki w tym wątku – bezcenne…).
Ja też przekonuję znajomych do XMPP. Jest coraz łatwiej, bo obsługę XMPP ma Gmail, ma ją też Facebook i zanosi się, że będzie tego więcej.

Za newsem:

Na szczęście nie mam znajomych korzystających z fotki.
Chyba, że się dobrze kryją i nie chwalą się. 
Aaa, takie A/V.
I tak nie używam, nie mam kamerki, a głośny szum wiatraka Pentium 4 skutecznie zagłusza mikrofon.
Dzięki temu łatwiej przekonać tych fotkowych użytkowników do rezygnacji z GG, ale i też np. ze Skype, którego przyszłość jest chyba niepewna.
Ja im nie ufam (Skype), jw końcu to oni tworzyli Kazzaa… :-/
Ja do wczoraj też już nie.
Ale podaj taki argument ZU, to zostaniesz wyśmiany. 
Więc lepiej miast nszczyć wizerunek Skype, przedstawić dla niego alternatywę, co ułatwia fakt, że Skype dla Windows robi się coraz cięższy, oraz sporo ludzi narzeka na nowy interfejs.

Nie wiem jak wygląda jego responsywność i interfejs teraz, bo próbowałem go tylko kilka lat temu na Pentium 133 MHz (słyszałem strasznie zaszumiony strasznie dźwięk z drugiej strony, ale mnie słychać nie było, sukces jak na taki zabytek i tak).
A ten argument z P2P to akurat bardzo dobrze do mnie przemawia, bo pamiętam jeszcze jak to instalowało ludziom pełno malware (a na jakim etapie je wprowadzono do programu, to nie wiem, może dopiero gdzieś przy dystrybucji, ale duży niesmak i brak zaufania pozostał).
Zgadza się, plus jakieś dziwne zapiski w licencji. Tylko, że ZU, ani nie czyta licencji, ani nie pamięta nic dalej niż ubiegła środa.
Dla nich ważne, że "działa".
No niestety, świadomość takich spraw u przeciętnego użytkownika jest zwykle nikła…
Gadu gadu już dawno opublikowało pełne (obecnie trochę ucięte) API NGG8 http://dev.gadu-gadu.pl/api/pages/gaduapi.html
To masz szanse się wykazać i zaimplementować.
(Ja tylko tak na marginesie. Edmek: "Kond jest najlepszą dokumentacją dla programisty" – buchachachachacha)

Na codzień korzystam z Gajima, ale aż sprawdziłem — wszystko działa wyśmienicie. Na każdym posiadanym przeze mnie koncie.
(Tak, wiem… flejmuję. Wybaczcie.)
zawsze mozesz uzywac Kadu, ale tam tez nie dziala przesylanie obrazkow i plikow, ani rozmowy glosowe… Ogolnie wszystkie alternatywy gg pozostały przy obsludze starego gg 6 lub 7, a w Nowym GG wiele sie zmienilo np: Voip via SIP, Video, transfer zza NATu, avatary, opisy graficzne, nowe statusy, ggAIR, powiadomienia, poczta glosowa itd …
Znow… jak nie widziałeś programu na oczy to sie o nim nie wypowiadaj. Oczywiście ze kadu obsługuje wysyłanie plików i obrazków. Kadu póki co jest bezkonkurencyjne i porównywanie obsługi gg w pidginie i kadu jest żałosne.
uzywam Kadu i wiem ze nie dziala nic oprocz rozmow tekstowych, i nie mowie o komunikacji z GG7 tylko z NowymGG.
Tak napisałem sobie na szybko zadowolony, czytam jeszcze raz i załamuję ręce nad niektórymi błędami. Komu tu trzeba obciągnąć, żeby móc wprowadzić poprawki?
Nie lubię Pidgina z wielu powodów, ale niestety chyba jest obecnie najlepszym (przynajmniej dla mnie najstrawniejszym) IM pod Linuksa (obsługuje nieźle trójcę Gadu-Gadu, Jabber i Tlen) i jest ogólnie znośny, chociaż ma swoje błędy i ograniczenia…
Czekam aż Kadu będzie spełniało moje oczekiwania (o ile kiedyś będzie…), to wrócę do niego.
Ostatecznie można wziąć np. Telepathy (Empathy, jakieś prace nad wtyczką dla Kopete) lub libPurple (Pidgin, Adium) i zrobić własny, dopasowany do potrzeb prosty komunikator (teraz to już nie jest porywanie się z motyką na księżyc jak jeszcze niedawno).
Tlen obsługuje dobrze te protokoły (o ile sie nie mylę). I moim zdaniem jest dużo lepszy od Kadu i Pidgina.
tlen jest zamkniety, poza tym podobno lubi sie wysypywac. ale co kto lubi, kazdy uzywa tego co mu sie podoba.
kadu w 0.6.6 ma obslugiwac jabbera (w tym gtalka) i tlena, chociaz do wydania jeszcze pewnie ze trzy miesiace.
Tak, zawsze jak coś jest dobre to ktoś znajdzie pretekst żeby takie nie było. Co z tego że zamknięte? Ważne że działa, mi się ani razu nie wysypał. Co prawda nie radzi sobie z wyglądem ani pod kde ani gnomem ale działa świetnie (u mnie).

nie wiem kadu jest dla mnie wygodniejsze od tlena, tylko ilość protokołów jest niezadowalająca.
Kadu niech lepiej poprawi kompatybilnosc i obsluge GG, a potem sie zabiera za inne protokoly
Ten pidgin to przerośnięta kobyła, potrafi na starcie zeżreć koło 40 mb ram, responsywność dla cierpliwych flegmatyków, dlatego jak instaluje nowy system to odrazu usuwam pidgina i instaluje kadu.
Próbowałem, nie dla mnie (jest dość dziwny i ubogi jeszcze, ale ma niezłe rokowania).
Pidgin jest jedynym przyzwoicie działającym multikomunikatorem na GTK+, dla mnie po prostu nie ma innej opcji.
No widzisz, a z przyszłej wersji ubuntu pidgin już wyleciał, może gdyby programiści się bardziej sprężyli z tymi rozmowami audio/video to by został, bo między innymi ich brak był jednym z powodów. No, ale to tylko ubuntu, a w repo zawsze pidgin jest.
To ciekawe. A coś wsadzili tam zamiast niego? Bo na GTK+ to już chyba Ayttm tylko został, ale to nieporównywalnie gorsza alternatywa.
Chyba to:
Empathy
Dla posiadaczy GNOME taka zamiana to pewnie żaden problem, ale ja nie mam GNOME, więc Empathy chyba nie jest dla mnie.
KDE?
Z GTK-qt-engine działa znośnie, chociaż potrafi mulić przy zamykaniu kart z rozmowami (przestało jak wymieniłem 512 DDR na 2048 DDR 2
).
Co nie znaczy, że nie można byłoby zrobić dobrego komunikatora korzystającego z interfejsu Qt (który integruje się bardzo dobrze z GTK swoją drogą, od Qt 4.5), z ewentualną, np. opcjonalną domieszką kdelibs dla lepszej integracji, opartego na libpurple, tak jak Adium (właściwie jest to Pidgin z interfejsem dla Maca, program oparty o tą samą bibliotekę IM).
Po co? Skoro Kopete ma być przeniesone na Empathy już w KDE4.4.
Nie każdy lubi Kopete (wolę już Pidgina od niego).
Poza tym, bardzo wątpię, że im się to uda w ciągu kilku najbliższych "dużych wydań", plany mają ogromne, ale realizacja coś nie idzie (np. duże zmiany w interfejsie, o rezultatach nic nie słyszałem, może mnie ktoś oświeci
).
P.S.
Empathy to program (niby udostępnia gotowe kontrolki dla innych, ale jakoś nie widzę dla nich zastosowania poza GTK
), a biblioteka to Telepathy.
KDE też nie mam.
XFCE czy jeszcze coś innego?
Empathy zależy od GNOME, ciekawe jak jest z samą biblioteką, ale chyba nie byli na tyle zaślepieni żeby ją też mocno uzależnić od konkretnych rozwiązań dublowanych w różnych środowiskach graficznych.
Tak czy owak, to obecnie Qt jest najlepszym wyborem na pisanie interfejsów (lub całych programów) dla projektów dostępnych nie tylko dla różnych środowisk graficznych i platform w ogóle (to jest ogromny atut Kadu, tylko bez porządnego wsparcia dla innych protokołów jest niestety marnowany…).
Nie mam żadnego konkretnego środowiska graficznego, tylko po prostu GTK+, GLiby nie gliby i takie tam pomniejsze biblioteki. Dlatego do wyboru pozostają mi dość ciężki Pidgin i mocno niedopracowany Ayttm. Chyba że ktoś może mi coś zasugerować, chętnie sprawdzę.

Masz rację chodzi o Telepathy. Nazwy mi się pomieszały.
Tu masz blog programisty, który w ramach GSOC zrobił program na Telepathy( http://gkiagia.wordpress.com/tag/gsoc/ ) , którego biblioteki mają być użyte w nowym Kopete. Jego promotor zajmuje się właśnie Telepathy-Qt. Blog był na Planecie KDE, i jeśli dobrze pamiętam, to prace są już na ukończeniu i wystarczy doszlifować kod. Jak znajdę linki, to podrzucę.
Aha, dzięki, pewnie to właśnie widziałem, ale dawno.
Chociaż i tak nie byłbym takim optymistą, jak ostatnio widziałem w historii zmian dla najnowszego GIMPa, że jeden projekt z GSoC dołączyli po trzech latach…
Chociaż może to uśpienie deweloperów Kopete wynika z oczekiwania na tą bibliotekę, tak jak Konqueror i KHTML przymarły trochę po wprowadzeniu Dolphina i spekulacjach na temat zastąpienia biblioteki renderowania HTML przez WebKit…
Sorki, że tak późno i juz pewnie zapomniałeś o temacie, ale znalazłem blog Pana zajmującego się Telepathy dla Kopete.

A w repo Debiana testing nadal wersja 2.5.8 (w stable jest aktualny 2.4.3!)… Może niedługo będzie update dla testinga, przecież to w końcu poprawka bezpieczeństwa jest.

W Experimentalu już jest 2.6.1 ale tylko amd64.

I believe avoiding packaged foods will be the first step so that you can lose weight.
