Protesty w Australii nie ograniczają się do działań w internecie. Autorzy akcji The Great Australian Internet Blackout współpracują z organizacjami EFA (No Clean Feed) oraz GetUp! (Save the Net).
Zaciemnienie wzorowane jest na proteście przeciwko przyjęciu prawa wprowadzającego m.in. domniemanie winy w przypadku oskarżeń o pewne przestępstwa internetowe, który odbył się na początku 2009 roku w Nowej Zelandii (i nie tylko). M.in. w wyniku tego protestu, prace nad wprowadzeniem tego prawa w Nowej Zelandi zostały przerwane.

Gest wsparcia z innych krajów, nawet tak egzotycznych jak Polska, może i dla rządu Australii nic nie znaczy, ale dla samych protestujących znaczy z pewnością wiele.

Zaciemnienie stron to nie najlepszy pomysł. Rządzący mogą się okazać zbyt tępi, by chwytać takie aluzje. Lepsze byłoby bezpośrednie nawiązanie do czegoś, czego takie mendy boją się panicznie – przegranych wyborów i oderwania od koryta. Dobre byłoby np. umieszczenie ich przekreślonych podobizn na stronach. Dodatkowo jeszcze napis: "Na tych panów nie głosujemy". Zaraz zmiękłaby im rura.
Cos Ty, ja tam juz troche zyje w tym kraju – im ruhra nie zmieknie od tekstow typu: na tych panow nie glosujemy (kim sa ci panowie tak w ogole). Lepszy rozglos daje taki black out, jak juz to polytykiery sie boja mediow. Tak czy siak, polytykery u wladzy maja gdzies ludzi – trzymaja sie mocno korytka. A kolejne wybory? Znow sie ludziom nawrzuca kitu i bedzie – takie zycie.
Chęć wprowadzenie domniemania winy, to chyba najgorsza rzecz, jaką ktoś może wprowadzić. Każdy może zostać oskarżony/być podejrzany, a mało kto będzie mieć tyle wiedzy technicznej, by się bronić przed sądem.
jeśli już mają to wprowadzić, to jaki będzie sens posiadania demokracji, rząd parlament i prezydent kombinujący jak tu w czasie kadencji najbardziej się nachapać…no cóż widocznie tak musi być
