Dobra wiadomość dla użytkowników najnowszego systemu operacyjnego Microsoftu. W końcu został wydany pierwszy pakiet aktualizacyjny dla systemu Windows Vista.
Po ponad roku od wydania Visty Microsoft wydał Service Pack do tego systemu. Sporo osób czekało właśnie na ten moment, powstrzymując się przed upgradem z Windows XP do najnowszego dziecka Microsoftu.
Najważniejsze zmiany:
- Kopiowanie plików nie powinno dłużej pokazywać przewidywanego czasu zakończenia liczącego tysiące lat
- Poprawiono funkcjonowanie UAC
- DirectX został uaktualniony do wspierania nie tylko sprzętu obsługującego DirectX 9 i 10 ale również wcześniejszych
- WGA nie reaguje na dwa najpopularniejsze exploity
- Poprawiono wsparcie dla rozwiązań korzystających z zewnętrznych wyszukiwarek
Uaktualnienie dostępne jest na dwa sposoby. Poprzez stronę Microsoft Update oraz Microsoft Download Center.
Microsoft sugeruje, że w przypadku aktualizacji tylko jednego komputera lepiej skorzystać z opcji Update (tylko 64MB do pobrania), aniżeli pobierać cały Service Pack, który zajmuje 434.5MB dla wersji 32-bitowej i 726.5 MB dla wersji 64-bitowej.
W tej chwili uaktualnienie dostępne jest tylko w pięciu wersjach językowych: angielskiej, niemieckiej, francuskiej, hiszpańskiej i japońskiej.
Jak można wyczytać na blogu Windows Vista, jeżeli użytkownik korzysta z innej wersji językowej niż wyżej wymienione, nie będzie posiadał możliwości uaktualnienia systemu poprzez stronę Microsoft Update. Z tym trzeba poczekać do około 18 kwietnia, kiedy to zostaną udostępnione zmiany dla pozostałych 31 wspieranych języków.
