Kolejna wersja Xfce opatrzona została numerem 4.8.0.
W porównaniu do poprzedniej wersji wprowadzono niewielkie, jednakże istotne zmiany. Wyeliminowano najczęściej zgłaszane błędy. A co się tyczy oficjalnej strony środowiska – odświeżono layout.

obecnie XFCE ssie, GNOME pracuje równie szybko i wydajnie
Próbowałem tego środowiska kilka razy, ale mnie nie przekonało. Dla mnie KDE jest za wielkie i skomplikowane, natomiast XFCE za ubogie, a Gnome jest po środku i jest dla mnie w sam raz. Ale lada moment postaram sie kolejny raz przekonać do KDE – za 3 dni wychodzi Pardus Linux i mam zamiar go zainstalować, bo to genialne distro, przy okazji zapoznam sie blizej z KDE.
tak przy okazji: czy bedzie wersja 64 bitowa, oraz co w owej dystrybucji jest takiego genialnego (w czym jest ona genialsza od np fedory)?
Jest 64bitowa wersja gentoo, jak najbardziej. Jesli chodzi o kompilacje wszystkiego
jak leci, poza walorami edukacyjnymi nie potrafie znalezc zadnych innych.
Powolnosc komputera to dzis glownie upierdliwosci sieci, przerazajaco wolne
w porownaniu do cpu dyski czy pamiec cache (hint, w ktorym trybie cache
jest lepiej wykorzystywany 32 czy 64 bitowym?) czy wreszcie slabe sterowniki.
Dorzucenie -O99 -arch=superduper nie sprawi, ze na gentoo szybciej otworzy
sie osnews.pl.
Ja gentoo cenie za to, ze moge bez problemu wlaczyc w pakiecie opcjonalne funkcje, ktore w binarnych distrach musialem gdzies na boku kompilowac recznie. eselect tez jest fajny. No i portage samo w sobie jest fajnym (przynajmniej dla mnie) menadzerem pakietow.

Ja zaś nie widzę zauważalnych (śladowe walory, że aby coś działało, należy przekompilować z jakąś dodatkową flagą, owszem istnieją, ale umówmy się, że to wiedza wybitnie akademicka) walorów edukacyjnych w kompilowaniu za pomocą menedżera — z braku lepszego określenia — pakietów. Naprawdę nie nauczy się człowiek wiecej wpisując `emerge -av fluxbox` niż wpisując `aptitude -R install fluxbox`
A poza tym pragnę dodać, że IntenseDebate powinno zostać usunięte.
Dlaczego? Teraz przynajmniej nie ma problemów z wątkowaniem, działa karma…
Fajnie! Zawsze lubię wracać do tego środowiska, szkoda tylko, że niektóre dystrybucje robią z niego ciężkie środowisko.
Nie niektóre, tylko Xubuntu. Gdzie deweloperzy Canonical nawrzucali śmieci z GNOME.
ja mam pytanie-czy jak ma się zainstalowane te środowisko lub inne niz kde i gnome to mozna bez problemu uzywać programów takich jak opera,vlc czy trzeba szukać specjalnych wersji obsługujących xfce ?
Oczywiście że tak. Środowisko nie ma znaczenia.
Musisz pamiętać o tym, że jak uruchamiasz program np z KDE w innym środowisku to oprócz samego programu do pamięci ładują Ci się dodatkowe biblioteki aby ten program mógł działać. W taki sposób zaczynasz zamulać cały system.
Pamiętaj też, że uruchamiając dowolny program ładujesz go do pamięci, co zamula system. Najlepiej więc w ogóle nie włączać programów – dzięki temu mamy perfekcyjnie działający system z multum wolnych zasobów:)
Lub programów z GNOME. W taki właśnie sposób Xubuntu pochłania więcej niż Ubuntu. Bo Canonical nawrzucał śmieci do XFCE.
W Gentoo już jest :). Aż zdziwiłem się, zawsze trzeba było trochę poczekać aż pojawi się w portage i aż odmaskują jako stabilne a tu myk – jest.
Jeszcze nie wszystko ustawiłem żeby działało po aktualizacji (przesiadka z HAL na sam udev, console-kit i polkit wiąże się z pewnymi przejściowymi komplikacjami) ale już w tej chwili podobają mi się zmieny (delikatne, ale zauważalne) – a za dzień lub dwa skonfiguruję do końca i będzie śmigać pięknie :).
A za kilka dni KDE 4.6 😉
I podobnie jak w GNOME – wrzask i pisk przy uruchamianiu, mimo wywalenia nawet modułu odpowiedzialnego za PC Speaker……komu to potrzebne….
ani w gnome, ani w xfce, ani w kde nie mam dźwięków przy uruchamianiu i z ich wyłączeniem nie miałem problemów, więc coś nie tak z twoim kompem.
PC speaker to przeciez ten glosniczek wewnatrz obudowy. O ile wiem glowne DE nie uzywaja go, a napewno nie na starcie, wiec moze to po prostu to jakies sygnaly z BIOSu? U mnie np piszczy jak sie zatrzyma wentylator badz temperatura procesora bedzie miala zbyt wysoka wartosc. Chyba, ze chodzi Ci o zwykle audio out, wtedy LOL 😉
Ciężko o komunikat biosu przy zamykaniu systemu i prezentowaniu okna logowania. Pod KDE problemu nie ma (Qt) ale Gnome i Xfce (oba na GTK) mają jakieś durne ustawienie, którego nie mogę zlokalizować – i to definitywnie nie jest audio out.
– xset bell off, usunięcie modułu pcspeakera … nic nie pomaga.
I to nie jest wina sprzętu. Acha – i dotyczy to dwóch maszyn.
Xfce laczy cechy duzych srodowisk jak GNOME/KDE i tych malych jak ratpoison/ion.
Jest rownie uzyteczny i przyjazny jak ratpoison i rownie lekki i szybki jak KDE.
Ratpoison przyjazny? Może jak się ctrl z caps lockiem zamieni w mapie klawiatury.

to moze okulary zaloz? Przeciez to ironia na kliometr pachnie 🙂
Może się wreszcie zmusze i na XFCE przejdę, KDE za ciężkie/duże, wszystkie inne alternatywy zbyt ubogie. Poki co gnome, lecz dalsza ścieżka rozwoju nie jest dla mnie… interesująca. Ogolnie co będzie z projektem gnome2 po oficjalnym wydaniu gnome shell stable?
A czy przypadkiem gnome-shell nie mial byc opcja? Jakis czas temu czytalem gdzies, ze bedzie mozliwosc uzywania gnome w formie znanej do tej pory.
Nic. Stary interfejs będzie można nadal używać w GNOME.
po wydaniu gnome-shell dalej masz panelowe gnome do wyboru.
XFCE jest wg mnie lepsze niż nowa linia KDE. Nie ma się co szczególnie zmuszać, po prostu poużywać, nawet równolegle z KDE, i przekonać się, że pasuje.
Inne alternatywy są zbyt ubogie, ale możesz urządzić je dokładnie tak jakbyś chciał – polecam Openbox + dodatki, to mój głowny pulpit.
E17 efekciarsko wygląda.
Coś nie widzę wpisu by znów pojawił się w Xfce sensowny edytor menu. Chyba tylko skończyło się na zapowiedziach. Rok czekania o kant pupy rozbić.
Alacarte np.
Każdy edytor menu obsługujący standard freedesktop tego dotyczący się sprawdzi 🙂
Dość długo korzystałem z eXtra Freaking Cool Environment (w wersji 4.4.2) 🙂 pomiędzy KDE 3.5 a KDE 4.4. Niestety w XFCE 4.6 deweloperzy zniszczyli, moim zdaniem, jedną z największych zalet tego środowiska, czyli menu aplikacji po kliknięciu w dowolnym miejscu pulpitu. Dodatkowo zbywali ludzi chcących przywrócenia dawnego układu lub zostawienia go chociaż jako opcji przez "nie, bo nie". Trochę mnie to zniechęciło a akurat wyszło KDE wystarczająco dla mnie stabilne i z możliwością ustawienia sobie menu jak mi się podoba 🙂 Cóż to był prawdziwy killer-feature.
Ależ Ty tu rozprowadzasz nieprawdę :P. Zarówno w 4.6 jak i 4.8 klikam w dowolne miejsce pulpitu prawym klaiwszem i mam menu programu. I nie wymagało to żadnych sztuczek. Nic nie robiłem. Po prostu została stara konfiguracja ;). A włączenie tego jeśli nie masz to 30 sekund klikania jeśli nie mniej.
Musiałem wyrazić się "nieco" nieprecyzyjnie. Wiem, że to menu dalej tam było. Szkoda tylko, że menu programów zostało przesunięte na sam dół rozwijanego menu pulpitu jako jedna z pozycji (czytaj: zostło schowane). Może ciężko to zrozumieć (na pewno 😛 ) więc opiszę przykład:
XFCE 4.4.2: klikam na pulpicie i mam kategorie programów, najeżdżam np. na Internet, ruch myszy w prawo i klikam Operę (dystans pokonany ręką ~5cm 😉
XFCE 4.6: klikam na pulpicie i pokazuje mi się menu pulpitu, zjeżdżam na sam dół i wybieram Programy, ruch ręką w prawo i pokazują mi się kategorie programów, ruch w dół na np. Internet, ruch w prawo i mam Operę (dystans ~10cm 😉
I nie było możliwości wyłączenia tego menu pulpitu tak żeby zostało tyko menu programów. Dodatkowo, nie pamiętam czy z tego samego powodu czy może jakiegoś innego, żeby nowsze XFCE działało mniej więcej tak samo musiałem wyłączyć wyświetlanie ikon na pulpicie (to, że i tak nie wyświetlam ikon pulpitu ma tu drugorzędne znaczenie :).
Ja mam jakoś od razu tylko i wyłącznie menu programów i niczego więcej. Więc jak najbardziej da się ustawić jak tylko sobie życzysz. Możliwe że wiąże się to z brakem ikon na pulpicie – ja nie posiadam (nigdy nie chciałem), ale nie jestem pewien czy to nawet od tego zależy.

Zresztą problem z menu przy kliknięciu rozwiązałem ustawiając w KDE prawy klawisz myszy jako menu pulpitu a lewy jako menu programów (tak samo jest domyślnie w Enlightenment). Zwróciłem tylko uwagę, że ta zmiana była dla mnie decydująca żeby przy zmianie komputera zmienić też środowisko graficzne. A KDE chociaż nie posiada takiej konfiguracji domyślnie (XFCE 4.4.2 odpowiadało mi w domyślnej konfiguracji) to nie robi problemów żeby to zmienić 🙂 W XFCE 4.6 dostałem odpowiedź "Nie" i nic więcej.
